I provide the children in my care with healthy homemade snacks and lunches. I put in a lot of time and effort to plan, prepare and serve nutritious food, so you don't have to! This is a service I am happy to provide.

Family Style Meals

Not only are meals a fundamental necessity; but sharing meals together is a bonding experience and is a valuable tool in teaching nutrition and social concepts. We serve “family style”, meaning children learn to serve themselves, regulate their own portions, and consider the needs of others when the bowl of a popular favorite food is getting empty!

Cooking Projects Build Our Community

Everyone helps to prepare foods and get the tables set and cleared. We often do extra cooking projects where the children measure, mix, chop, read recipes together, etc. The kids love to make guacamole, smoothies, breads and salads.

Our cooking projects are served as part of our snacks and meals. Being a part of the process, sharing the same foods, and eating together makes for a happy and healthy community.

Wholesome Foods Promote Healthy Minds and Bodies

A menu is posted each day, detailing the snacks and meals that will be provided. Whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies, quality meats (and meat alternatives like tofu) and whole, organic milk/dairy products are used.

Testimonials

We love Under the Orange Trees child care! Ildi is a loving child care provider who is extremely patient and creative with kids. She meets kids at their level and encourages child-directed play. She is experienced in early childhood care and education. She has taught my son how to be kind and inclusive of others, how to communicate better and be thoughtful, and she has encouraged his creativity and learning. At Under the Orange Trees my son loves playing with the fun toys in the playroom and yard, helping with cooking activities or snack prep, the games they play, the creative activities, playing with the other kids, and he loves Ildi! It is a perfect warm, caring home environment for him. We feel so lucky to be there!
